Eroding cyanobacterial crust
Eroding cyanobacterial crust. The platelets have a blue tinge due to presence of cyanobacteria (also known as blue-green algae). These organisms glue the fine soil together, somewhat resisting the erosive force of the wind and thus reducing the dust production potential of the land.
